If I Fell By John T. Marck Another of Lennon's, this describes an illicit affair. In this, Lennon is asking a woman that if he leaves his wife for her, will she love him more than he's ever been loved before. He also realizes that if he leaves his wife, it will cause her pain, so he wants to be sure that this other woman is committed to the relationship. It is one of Lennon's most beautiful songs, somewhat of a precursor to In My Life. If I fell in love with you, could you promise to be true, and help me understand 'Cause I've been in love before, and I've found that love was more, that just holding hands If I give my heart to you, I must be sure from the very start, That you, would love me more than her If I trust in you, oh please, don't run and hide, if I love you too, oh please Don't hurt my pride like her, 'cause I couldn't stand the pain And I, would be sad if our new love, was in vain So I hope you see, that I, would love to love you, and that she will cry When she learns we are two, 'cause I couldn't stand the pain And I, would be sad if our new love, was in vain So I hope you see, that I, would love to love you, and that she will cry When she learns we are two, if I fell in love with you NOTE: All lyrics contained herein are ©Copyright Northern Songs.
