I Me Mine George Harrison By John T. Marck This was George's attempt to reconcile his position as a rock star with the religious demands of surrendering his self-importance, in order to attain enlightenment, being he was deeply involved in Eastern thought at the time. Later George said about I Me Mine, "that it concerned the ego, which he became aware of after taking LSD and viewed things relative to his own ego. He also claimed to have based the music on a song performed by an American Band he saw on TV. Allen Klein thought it was like the Italian song similar to "Cara Mia Mine." There was a song at this time called Cara Mia, by a US group, Jay and the Americans. In recording this, Lennon was absent, getting a hair cut. But that was not a problem because when it was originally recorded, the other three did it all, while Lennon danced with Yoko around the studio floor. All through the day, I me mine, I me mine, I me mine All through the night, I me mine, I me mine, I me mine Now they're frightened of leaving it, everyone's reading it, comin' on strong all the time All through the day, I me mine, I me me mine, I me me mine, I me me mine, I me me mine All I can hear, I me mine, I me mine, I me mine Even those tears, I me mine, I me mine, I me mine No one's frightened of playing it, everyone's saying it, flowing more freely that wine All through the day, I me mine, I me me mine, I me me mine, I me me mine, I me me mine All I can hear, I me mine, I me mine, I me mine Even those tears, I me mine, I me mine, I me mine No one's frightened of playing it, everyone's saying it, flowing more freely that wine All through your life, I me mine NOTE: All lyrics contained herein are © Copyright Northern Songs.
